Reginae Carter wants people to stop comparing her to Lil Wayne in his prime.
The mixtape run of Lil Wayne is unrivalled. However, a lot of fans think that performers like Lil Baby and Lil Durk are copying what Wayne did in the middle of the 2000s.
These talks are coming to an end because of Reginae Carter. One of Weezy’s children posted a statement on Twitter criticising anyone who believes that another rapper could even come close to matching what the New Orleans rapper has achieved in his career.
“‘KEEP MY FATHER’S NAME OUT YA MOUTH,’” she tweeted, along with two laughing emojis. “Nah fr y’all need to stop comparing my dad to the new kids on the block .. gotta stop! Everybody is super talented and dope! Let them have their run and time will tell .. but leave that marathon Wayne ran out of it …”
The series of mixtapes Lil Wayne released before Tha Carter III’s debut was unquestionably a turning point in his career. Weezy rose to prominence in rap and became a staple feature for all players. Wayne continues to be one of the most prolific rappers to have ever lived, even though he may not actively release music at the same rate these days.
Reginae’s remarks are made at a time when NBA Youngboy is continuously releasing music, even more frequently than Lil Wayne. The rapper from Baton Rouge debuted I Rest My Case this morning, his sixth album since August (not including compilations).
While performing at the Young Money reunion portion of OVO Fest last summer, Lil Wayne hinted at the arrival of Tha Carter VI. Shortly after, he posted a pre-save link, but he hasn’t given many updates since. It appears possible that the album might be released at some time in 2023.
