A lawyer was expelled from performing at Radio City Music Hall because of facial recognition technology. This is the latest.
The weekend following Thanksgiving, according to Kelly Conlon, she and her daughter travelled to New York City. A girl scout adventure to see the Rockets at Radio City Music Hall included the trip.
However, while she was in line with her daughter and members of her troupe, Conlon was told by security that she could not watch the show. Madison Square Garden Entertainment has identified Conlon as an attorney.
“What I heard over the intercom and speakers was going through the metal detector at about the same time,” Conron told NBC New York. “I heard them say it was a woman with long dark hair and a gray scarf. Conlon says security asked for her name and asked for her ID.
“Before I told them, they knew my name. Before I told them, they knew the company I was associated with. I told him not to stay in,” Conlon continues. She works for a New Jersey-based law firm involved in an assault lawsuit against a restaurant now owned by MSG Entertainment.
Conlon said she does not practice law in New York and that she is not working on a lawsuit against MSG at her current law firm. When asked why Konron was targeted, a spokesperson for MSG Entertainment said it has a long-standing policy of banning lawyers involved in lawsuits against the company.
According to an MSG Entertainment representative, “Until those cases are settled, MSG forbids attorneys involved in active lawsuits against the firm from attending events at our locations. We have put in place a clear policy.
“We understand that some individuals will not be happy with this decision, but we cannot ignore the fact that litigation always results in unfavourable circumstances. All lawyers who will be impacted by the policy were informed. The representation asserts that the policy was twice disclosed to Conlon’s employer, a law firm.
